SINGAPORE – The Science Centre Board has announced the appointment of Ms Tham Mun See as the new Chief Executive of the Science Centre Singapore, effective 1 July 2025. She will succeed Dr Lim Tit Meng, who will be stepping down on 30 June after 15 years at the helm, marking the end of a transformative era for one of Singapore’s leading public science institutions.

Currently serving as the Deputy Chief Executive, Ms Tham brings with her a strong background in education leadership, having held key roles within the Ministry of Education (MOE), including Executive Director of the Academy of Singapore Teachers, Cluster Superintendent, and Principal of Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary) and Anderson Secondary School.

As the incoming Chief Executive, Ms Tham is expected to steer the Science Centre through its next major chapter — the development of its new state-of-the-art facility in Jurong Lake District, which broke ground in November 2023 and began construction in April 2024. A key priority under her leadership will be to shape the Centre into a globally recognised hub for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning and public engagement.

Dr Lim’s tenure has been marked by ambitious initiatives that broadened the Centre’s scope and deepened its impact across the nation. Under his leadership, the Centre launched KidsSTOP™, Singapore’s first dedicated science space for young children; STEM Inc., a specialised arm to promote applied learning in schools; and CRADLΣ (Centre of Research and Applied Learning in Science), which has supported student-led science and engineering research.

Beyond local engagement, Dr Lim played an instrumental role in strengthening the Science Centre’s international footprint. He held leadership roles in key science education organisations, including serving as President of the Singapore Association for the Advancement of Science (SAAS), the Singapore National Academy of Science (SNAS), and the Asia Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres (ASPAC).

As the Centre moves into a new phase of expansion and transformation, the leadership handover signifies both continuity and renewed ambition in Singapore’s efforts to nurture future-ready scientists, technologists, and innovators.
