SYDNEY  – Lisa Annese, CEO, Diversity Council Australia has been appointed to the NSW Women’s Advisory Council. The new Council is a state government initiative designed to play a key role in advancing gender equality by advising the NSW Government on issues affecting women and girls across the state.

Lisa will be one of 12 new members of the Council, and aims to bring an evidence-based, intersectional perspective to the state government’s work to ensure all women benefit from positive change equally.

“I am honoured to be selected as a member of the NSW Women’s Advisory Council,” Lisa said, “Gender equality is a critical tool for Australia’s prosperity, and I am keen to get started on the important work of applying a ‘gender lens’ across the duties of the NSW government.”

The Council will provide specialist advice on the three priority areas identified in the NSW Women’s Strategy 2023-2026: economic opportunity and advancement, health and wellbeing, and participation and empowerment. They will also contribute to the implementation of the strategy and consult with community organisations.

Lisa brings to the Council decades of experience working with Australian employers to foster gender equity and inclusion in the workplace. Throughout her career, Lisa has contributed widely to the public debate on issues relating to gender pay equity, paid parental leave, women in leadership, cultural and racial diversity, and workplace flexibility.

Lisa sits on the Respect@Work Council, charged with supporting the introduction of the Respect at Work Bill aiming to prevent sexual harassment in Australian workplaces. Lisa is also on the Boards of Amnesty International Australia and the non-partisan organisation, Women for Election. In 2018, Lisa was named one of the AFR’s 100 Women of Influence. She is also a member of Chief Executive Women.
